Girl Hurt in McKinleyville Hit-and-Run at Winchester Avenue
MCKINLEYVILLE, CA (October 26, 2019) — A girl suffered injuries in a hit-and-run at Winchester Avenue and McKinleyville Avenue Wednesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said they received a call about the collision at about 7:50 a.m. The officers responded to McKinleyville High School and contacted the injured party.
According to the girl, she was preparing to cross on her skateboard at the intersection of Winchester Avenue and McKinleyville Avenue. In addition, a white four-door sedan westbound on Winchester Avenue stopped at the intersection.
The girl said she made eye contact with the driver. After that, she began crossing southward across Winchester Avenue in front of the car. However, the vehicle suddenly moved forward into the intersection and struck her.
The girl fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries. However, the car then drove around her and sped away.
The authorities are seeking the public’s help to locate the hit-and-run driver. They described the suspect as a white female in her 30s, with blond hair in a bun or a ponytail. In addition, the vehicle is described as a white four-door sedan.
