Giorgi Ambrolidze Airlifted in Vehicle Crash on State Route 299 [Douglas City, CA]

Douglas City, CA (March 22, 2022) – On March 19, 26-year-old Giorgi Ambrolidze of Brooklyn NY, 19-year-old Jakab Lewis of Lewiston, and 19-year-old Katelyn Patten, also of Lewiston, sustained injuries in a vehicle crash on State Route 299.

The collision happened at about 1:13 p.m. west of Steel Bridge Road.

Officers said Patten was driving a westbound 2001 Toyota Camry on the freeway at a stated speed of 55 mph. 

At the same time, Ambrolidze was driving an eastbound 2021 Ford F-350 truck-trailer on the freeway approaching Patten’s vehicle.

Patten allowed her vehicle to cross the solid double yellow lines. As a result, the front of Patten’s vehicle crashed with the left side of Ambrolidze’s vehicle. 

The impact of the collision caused the engine and transmission of Patten’s to be detached from the vehicle. Her vehicle spun counterclockwise and the rear of her vehicle crashed with Ambrolidze’s trailer. 

Moreover, the paramedics airlifted Ambrolidze to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries. 

Similarly, the emergency responders also took Patten’s passenger to Trinity General Hospital with minor injuries. 

Officers said they do not suspect alcohol and or drugs as factors to this collision.
