Driver Dies in Gilroy Crash
GILROY, CA (January 9, 2019) – A Morgan Hill man lost his life Monday morning in a solo-vehicle crash on the northbound Highway 101 near Monterey Road.
Around 12:40 a.m., California Highway Patrol received a call involving a 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck that veered off the west edge of the highway.
For unexplained reasons, the 27-year-old man piloting the Nissan allowed the car to overturn and careened into a wood and metal guardrail at the center divider when he lost control. The unidentified victim was pinned inside the car and succumbed to his injuries.
The Santa Clara County coroner’s office was dispatched to the scene. Authorities are investigating the ultimate cause of this crash.
