Gilbert Mohr Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident at Stover and Waneta Roads
GRANDVIEW, WA (March 20, 2019) – A Sunnyside man lost his life Sunday following a two-car accident at Stover and Waneta roads.
Around 2:15 p.m., a 2000 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Gilbert E. Mohr, blew through a stop sign at Waneta Road after heading west on Stover Road. Subsequently, Mohr’s car collided with a 2016 Ford F-350 pickup heading southbound on Waneta Road.
Authorities are investigating the reason why Mohr failed to stop at the stop sign that afternoon.
Upon paramedics’ arrival, crews transported the 86-year-old to a local hospital where he died shortly after. Meanwhile, the Ford driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Because details of this crash are limited, deputies are investigating the cause and circumstances. Thus far, they’ve ruled out impairment.
