Ghulam Khimani Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Del Amo Boulevard at Mariner Avenue
TORRANCE, CA (May 1, 2019) – An 81-year-old man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Del Amo Boulevard at Mariner Avenue Monday night.
The deadly hit-and-run took place as Ghulam Ali Khimani was crossing Del Amo Boulevard in a marked crosswalk. The 81-year-old man had just wrapped up a nightly prayer service at a local mosque.
However, as he headed home around 8:40 p.m., an eastbound vehicle, described as a blue or grey Honda four-door sedan, struck him.
According to Torrance police, the driver fled the scene, leaving Khimani with grave injuries.
Upon arriving, Torrance Fire Department administered life-saving efforts, yet despite these attempts, Khimani succumbed to his injuries.
Police noted that he was wearing dark clothing at the time and the driver might not have seen him.
Now, Torrance police are asking witnesses or anyone who knows about the driver’s whereabouts to call 310-618-5557.
