SANTA MARIA, CA (March 20, 2019) – A pedestrian accident Tuesday morning along Highway 101 near East Stowell Road left a Santa Maria man injured.
According to the California Highway Patrol, dispatch responded to a report about a male pedestrian walking along the center divider of Highway 101 around 5:18 a.m. Subsequently, dispatch received further reports around 6:40 a.m. about a man meandering along the southbound shoulder of the same highway.
Incoming reports further noted that a male, later identified as George Whiting, walked directly into the path of traffic. A pickup truck struck Whiting as he crossed the road.
