1 Dead and 2 Injured in Temecula Car Collision on Highway 79
TEMECULA, CA (January 6, 2020) – A 23-year-old man died while two others sustained injuries in a car collision on Highway 79 on January 3.
Geordon Pollette of Aguanga got killed in the head-on crash on Highway 79 just west of Pauba Road around 12:20 a.m.
50-year-old Matteo Monica of San Diego drove an eastbound 2004 Mitsubishi Lance when he tried to pass a slower vehicle, Officer Mike Lassig revealed. Monica “crossed over double yellow lines and entered the westbound traffic lane to pass the slower vehicle,” Lassig added.
Monica then came across a westbound 2004 Kia Rio. 59-year-old Becki Teague drove the Kia while Geordon Pollette was a front passenger. The two vehicles crashed head-on and Monica’s car caught fire.
As a result, Geordon Pollette sustained massive trauma and medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Becki Teague sustained major injuries and got admitted to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar in serious condition.
Matteo Monical also sustained serious injuries and was transported to the same hospital.
Our deepest regrets and thoughts are with the loved ones of Geordon Pollette.
