Gavino Castro Arrested, Woman Dead Following Car Accident at East Brundage Lane and Oswell Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 6, 2019) – Two vehicles collided at East Brundage Lane and Oswell Street Tuesday, resulting in the death of a woman and the arrest of a suspect.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reportedly seized Gavino Castro, of Bakersfield, following a series of events that began at a Motel 6 on East Brundage Lane.
According to reports, a U.S. Marshal fired a gun at the motel, yet reports did not clearly specify if the Marshall shot Castro or anyone.
Shortly after, Castro hopped into a vehicle with two people inside, including a woman. Deputies have not stated the relationship between the two or if they even knew each other.
When the car fled, it eventually crashed into a truck at the intersection of East Brundage Lane and Oswell Street.
Deputies arrived at the crash scene and found one woman dead; however, deputies are investigating whether the woman died from the crash or from other injuries. The driver in the truck suffered only minor injuries, and police officers arrested Castro at the scene.
The third person in the vehicle that Castro was occupying fled the scene, but authorities apprehended the suspect shortly after.
Authorities are investigating this crash further, and the Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to call them at (661)861-3110.
