Young Girl Hospitalized After Being Hit by Impaired Motorist in Gardena
GARDENA, CA (February 19, 2019) – An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured Friday night after being struck by an alleged DUI driver at Normandie Avenue and West 160th Street.
The pedestrian crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. near Mas Fakai Park.
Gardena police officers received reports about a traffic collision. Once they arrived, officers determined that the 11-year-old girl had been struck by a large SUV as she ran in the street toward the park. She was found in the middle lane unresponsive and with significant injuries.
The girl regained consciousness soon after and was brought to a trauma center for treatment. The driver involved was arrested for driving under the influence.
