18-Year-Old Passenger Dies after Car Crashes into Concrete Wash on 215 Freeway at Orange Show Road
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (February 15, 2019) – A male teen passenger was killed following a high-speed crash Friday afternoon on 215 Freeway in San Bernardino.
The victim has been identified by the San Bernardino’s Coroner’s Office as Gabriel Simmons, 18, of Riverside.
Simmons was riding in the back seat of a 2018 Volkswagen Passat that was traveling southbound on 215 Freeway, just North of Orange Show Road. The driver reportedly lost control of the car and crashed into a concrete wash around 2:55 p.m.
Simmons sustained severe head injuries and was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a responding coroner’s personnel.
Preliminary reports indicated the driver was traveling at a high rate speed causing the car to overturn down the ditch.
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. Further investigation is underway.
