13-Year-Old Boy Dies after Collision with Vehicle near Hemlock Avenue
FONTANA, CA (March 11, 2019) – Authorities identified 13-year-old Gabriel Morales of Fontana as the boy killed in a bicycle accident near Hemlock Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Merrill Avenue at about 1:00 PM. Morales lost control of his bicycle and fell into the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Cavalier.
The driver of the Chevrolet attempted to steer away from the boy. However, the rear right side of the vehicle hit Morales, causing blunt force trauma to the victim.
Emergency responders transported the boy to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:39 PM. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
