Christopher Solis Arrested in DUI Crash that Injures 9 People in Fullerton
FULLERTON, CA (February 10, 2019) – Nine pedestrians were injured after being struck by a DUI driver early Sunday morning in a busy downtown in Fullerton.
The crash occurred around 1:48 a.m. at the South of Commonwealth District, a popular nighttime destination, just near 100 West Santa Fe Avenue.
According to police, a red Toyota Tacoma veered onto a sidewalk, jumped a curb and plowed into a crowd, before crashing into a tree. At least nine people were injured, some were trapped beneath the vehicle. Passersby scrambled to get the truck off the victims.
Injuries ranged from moderate to critical and the victims are between 18 and 49 years old, the Orange County Register reported.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 22-year-old Christopher Solis of Anaheim, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
Fullerton police said he is believed to have been driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. He was being held on $100,000 bail and has a first court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
