Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Hit by Driver in Friant
FRIANT, CA (November 29, 2018) – A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday evening after he was struck by a driver on North Friant Road near Root Street.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. when California Highway Patrol officers arrived to find a man with serious injuries and a vehicle that sustained windshield damage.
According to reports, the pedestrian – a man in his 50s – was walking across North Friant Road and was hit by a Chevy Malibu heading northbound. The victim suffered broken bones and head trauma and was brought to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
The female driver, believed to be in her 40s, was fully cooperative and not believed to be under the influence. Reports further noted that the woman was traveling approximately 45 mph, which is the posted speed limit in the area.
An investigation of this pedestrian crash is underway.
