Afternoon Collision with Big Rig in Fresno Critically Injures 1 Driver
FRESNO, CA (April 18, 2019) – A woman was critically injured following a collision with a big rig Thursday afternoon in Fresno.
The collision happened around 4:48 p.m. at the intersection of South Dickenson Avenue and West Kearney Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Toyota sedan was at a stop sign at Kearney Boulevard when it pulled out in the path of the big rig that was traveling northbound at Dickenson Avenue.
A female driver of the sedan suffered major injuries and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Two juveniles in the sedan were also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the big rig was unharmed.
The Kearney and Dickenson intersection is considered a tricky area. There are only two stop signs at the intersection, for the traffic on Kearney. Meanwhile, traffic on Dickenson often moves at high speeds, with few speed limit signs posted on the rural road.
Investigation of this incident is still ongoing.
