2 Dead Following Head-On Collision in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (March 5, 2019) – A pair of drivers lost their lives Monday night following a wrong-way collision on Highway 180 near South Hayes Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the ultimate cause of the wrong-way crash. Officials are perplexed as to what caused a 23-year-old driver to travel eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.
The Mercedes, which was occupied by the 23-year-old man, plowed head-on into another vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old woman. Both drivers died in the crash.
At this time, authorities believe drugs may have been a factor in the collision.
As a result of the deadly 11 p.m. incident, crews had to shut down the roadways due to the investigation.
