1 Dead, Several Hurt in 3-Car DUI Wreck in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (February 18, 2019) – Sunday night, one man was killed and two children were hospitalized after a 3-car DUI crash on South Chestnut Avenue.
First responders arrived to the scene around 7:00 p.m. There, three vehicles were found including an overturned Jeep Cherokee SUV, occupied by five people.
According to news reports, the Jeep was traveling north on Chestnut Avenue, when it was struck from behind by a Toyota. The Toyota then veered into the southbound lanes and struck a vehicle occupied by an elderly couple and their 10-year-old granddaughter.
Due to the impact of the crash, a male passenger found inside the Jeep was pronounced dead on arrival. Two children in the same car were suffering serious injuries and quickly transported to Valley Children’s Hospital. Two other victims were shuttled to Community Regional Medical Center. The 10-year-old girl and her grandparents were uninjured.
The driver of the Toyota was arrested for felony DUI.
