Coroner ID’s Two of Four Killed in Head-On Crash in Perris
PERRIS, CA (March 18, 2019) – Two Perris residents were among the four people killed in a fiery head-on crash involving two pickup trucks, authorities said Monday.
The Riverside County coroner’s office has identified Francisco Lazaro, 56, and Carolina Balerio De Lazaro, 52.
Francisco Lazaro was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Carolina. Soon after, the truck smashed into an eastbound 2006 Chevy Avalanche with the two men inside, police reported.
All four people were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner. A San Marcos man and an Escondido man were not publicly identified, the coroner’s office said.
In addition, the Chevy immediately caught fire and became engulfed in flames.
The Riverside County Fire Department dispatched 10 firefighters to the scene as well as three engine companies. Firefighters removed the bodies of the people trapped in one of the trucks.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the CHP. Police are investigating this accident further.
