Deadly Pedestrian Collision in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, CA (December 23, 2019) — A driver struck and killed a person Friday evening in a fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 101 at South La Cumbre Road exit.
The pedestrian accident happened around 6:15 p.m. According to the Santa Barbara Police, a person was walking northbound on the southbound side of the highway.
CHP confirmed that a dark gray Toyota Camry struck the pedestrian in the middle slow lane, but its driver was unsure of the object that’d been hit. The vehicle sustained damage to the windshield, and officials called a coroner to the scene as soon as the victim died around 7 p.m.
No one inside the car suffered any injuries, say police.
An ongoing investigation continues as authorities ascertain the cause and events that led to this crash.
