Fatal Multi-Car Crash at Marigold and East Avenues [Chico, CA]

1 Dead, Several Injured in 3-Car Collision in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (April 15, 2019) – A fatal three-car collision unfolded at Marigold and East avenues Saturday evening, officials say.
 
According to a news press release, police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a three-vehicle accident around 5:50 p.m.
 
Police stated that one car heading eastbound on East Avenue was traveling at excessive speeds. Subsequently, that car struck a northbound vehicle on Marigold Avenue before a third vehicle, with three people inside, somehow grew tangled in the mayhem.
 
Upon arrival, paramedics shuttled three people to local hospitals, where one of them died.
 
As investigations ensued, crews closed East Avenue for several hours as they canvassed the scene.
 
Now, officers are looking to see whether impairment played a role in the collision.
