Two Killed Encinitas Fatal Car Accident on 5 Freeway
ENCINITAS, CA (November 4, 2019)— Two people died following a fatal car accident on 5 Freeway near Leucadia Boulevard last Sunday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two victims died in the 1:43 a.m. crash. Reportedly, their van stopped in the northbound fast lane for unexplained reasons.
Shortly after, another car crashed into it, setting the van on fire, witnesses at a nearby hotel reported. Unfortunately, the two van occupants died in the collision.
Due to the accident, which occurred on Oct. 27, crews closed the northbound 5 Freeway for 90 minutes.
It’s unclear what caused the crash or why the van came to a stop in the first place; however, authorities are looking at some possibilities that could explain the details.
