Faalele Patea Charged in Deadly DUI Collision on West Florida Avenue Near Warren Road
HEMET, CA (May 3, 2019) – One person perished in a multi-vehicle DUI crash on West Florida Avenue near Warren Road Wednesday night.
According to reports, Hemet police responded to the traffic collision around 9:07 p.m.
Upon arriving, deputies found two male passengers in their 20s with major injuries. Paramedics rushed both victims to a nearby hospital where one of them died.
As a result of the crash, crews closed off West Florida Avenue from Myers Street to California Avenue for six hours due to investigations.
According to officials, 25-year-old Faalele Patea crashed into a Honda Civic. Witnesses say the Moreno Valley driver was traveling at speeds well over 100 mph in her 2013 Volkswagen Jetta.
Patea, unable to stop in time, slammed into the rear of a Honda Civic as well as another car nearby.
Shortly after, officers arrested her for gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and other charges.
