Newport Beach Man Ernest Adams Struck While Riding Bicycle in DUI Crash on 16th Street
Costa Mesa, CA (April 02, 2021) – On Sunday, eighty-year-old Newport Beach resident Ernest Adams died in a tragic DUI crash on 16th Street.
The deadly bicycle accident occurred at approximately 3:16 p.m. in the area of Irvine Avenue.
Apparently, he was riding his bicycle near Newport Harbor High School when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver.
Immediately, rescuers took the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, several eyewitnesses said that the suspect ran a stop sign prior to hitting Adams.
Police arrested 20-year-old Alexis Garcialopez of Norwalk, on suspicion of DUI by alcohol causing serious bodily injury.
