Eric Smith and Bryan Pope Involved, Sean Seager Arrested for Hit-and-Run and DUI on Highway 14 Near 205 Freeway
VANCOUVER, WA (January 17, 2019) – Three people were injured Sunday in a hit-and-run multi-vehicle crash along Highway 14 near the 205 Freeway.
According to Washington State Troopers, around 6 a.m., Sean E. Seager was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 14 near the 205 Freeway overpass. Seager’s Ford Focus eventually crashed head-on into a Toyota Tacoma, driven by 33-year-old Eric E. Smith, of Vancouver.
The impact of both vehicles sent the pickup truck onto its roof and side in the left lane while Seager’s vehicle slid into the right lane with both vehicles blocking the roadway. Bryan T. Pope, a 25-year-old driver from Vancouver, subsequently struck Smith’s pickup with his Toyota Corolla sedan, Washington State Patrol confirmed.
Seager immediately fled on foot before returning to the scene later on. Authorities were led to believe that Seger was under the influence after he had been slurring his speech and reeking of intoxicants.
Smith was brought to the Vancouver Campus of the VA Portland Health Care System while Pope escaped the crash unharmed. Seager was shuttled to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for his injuries.
A follow-up investigation of this crash is underway.
