CLARKSBURG, CA (May 10, 2019) – A 25-year-old man died Wednesday night in a rollover collision near South River Road.
The fatal incident occurred around 8 p.m., near the Sacramento River. According to reports, Fairfield resident Emilio Villagomez Rivera‘s car veered off the road, struck a tree and overturned, eventually landing in the river.
Witnesses saw Rivera traveling at speeds of about 80 mph before the car went off the levee.
Not only did the force eject Rivera from the vehicle, but also a 1-year-old child, who authorities believe may not have been properly restrained.
A 24-year-old woman from Elk Grove, identified as Amanda R. Caldera, also suffered moderate injuries as a result.
Now, investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Emilio Villagomez Rivera during this tragic time. May he rest in peace.
