Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Leaves Three Killed near Marine Drive
EMERYVILLE, CA (March 1, 2019) – Three people were killed Thursday morning, in a semi-truck accident on 80 Freeway. Their identities have not been released.
The devastating crash happened Thursday morning near the Marine Drive off-ramp, according to police records.
Per news reports, a minivan carrying two brothers and two sisters, ages from 17 to 26 years old, crashed into an illegally parked semi-truck on the freeway’s shoulder.
California Highway Patrol stated that the driver of the big rig pulled over to get some rest after reaching his maximum prescribed number of hours for his shift. According to patrol officers, the driver was asleep at the time of the incident.
Three members of a San Pablo family died in the collision.
According to CHP, speed may have played a role in the accident. In addition, the investigation will determine whether charges will go against the trucker involved in this fatal crash.
