Chino, CA (December 16, 2020) – On Monday, 18-year-old Emelie Hjerten of Chino died, while three were injured in a fiery vehicle crash on Central Avenue.

The authorities responded to the Chino scene at about 8:26 p.m. on the 13400 block area.

When authorities arrived, they discovered a vehicle in the southbound lanes fully consumed in fire.

Responders rescued two of the vehicle’s occupants from the car. Also, a third passenger was found outside the vehicle prior to their arrival.

Hjerten, the driver, was trapped in the vehicle. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, two of the victims were stable while one was in critical condition.

The authorities identified the three surviving victims as a 19-year-old Chino man, a 20-year-old of Chino Hills, and a 19-year old woman from Corona.

The Police Department’s initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling north on Central Avenue. Then, it drifted into the southbound lanes and crashed with a tree on the west sidewalk before catching on fire.

Firefighters from the Chino Valley Independent Fire District also responded to the scene and extinguished the flames, Chino PD said.
