1 Killed in Chico Car Accident on Meridian Road
CHICO, CA (April 27, 2020) – Late Sunday morning, an 80-year-old male Chico resident died in a car accident on Meridian Road.
According to police reports, the crash occurred on April 26, just before 10:30 a.m. The officers came to the crash scene on Meridian Road, north of Kilkare Lane.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the elderly man drove a 1993 Chevrolet Tahoe north on Meridian Road. However, for reasons still unknown, the old man crashed the back of a 2020 Toyota Tundra as he tried to drove past it. Due to the crash, the Chevrolet overturned.
As the vehicle rolled over, the Chevrolet driver was thrown off from his vehicle due to not wearing a seatbelt. The authorities declared the 80-year-old man dead at the scene.
Furthermore, his identity remains unreleased since the authorities are withholding due to pending family notification.
The California Highway Patrol stated that they are still trying to clarify whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The car accident on Meridian Road remains under active investigation.
