70-Year-Old Male Killed in Fresno Bike Crash near Ellis Street
FRESNO, CA (March 18, 2020) – Early Monday morning, a 70-year-old man was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on Road 26, in Madera County.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the collision just after 5:30 a.m. According to reports, two unidentified vehicles struck the bicyclist, near Ellis Street.
Investigators say the male bicyclist was riding on Road 26 when an SUV struck him from behind.
The impact consequently ejected him from his bike before another vehicle struck the him while he was down on the roadway.
CHP also revealed that both drivers involved in the crash remained on scene and have been cooperative with the investigation.
Moreover, detectives have not yet disclosed which vehicle fatally struck the bicycle rider. They also confirmed that the bicyclist had no lights or reflectors on his bike.
The surrounding area on Road 26 was closed off for a brief time during preliminary duties.
At this time, both drivers are not expected to face charges, officers added. No further information has been released to the public.
