Pedestrian Hospitalized in El Cajon Crash

 
EL CAJON, CA (January 9, 2019) – A 47-year-old pedestrian walking in a crosswalk at the 8 Freeway off-ramp at North 2nd Street was hit and injured by a vehicle Monday morning.
 
The unidentified victim was hospitalized and complained of pain to his leg. He was quickly brought to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego after being struck by a Dodge van at 8:05 a.m.
 
The 50-year-old male driver stopped at the scene and was interviewed by authorities. The details and events leading to the crash are still unclear.
 
Drivers should be more aware of their surroundings when approaching intersections or exiting off highways. Always look out for trouble and survey the roadways. Pedestrians should never assume any driver sees them and to only cross when it’s safe and clear.
