Female Pedestrian Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run Crash near LAX
Los Angeles, CA (January 5, 2024) Early Thursday morning, LAPD arrested 48-year-old Eduardo Alejandro Leiva after a hit-and-run crash near LAX that killed a female pedestrian.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 12:05 a.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard, south of Century Boulevard.
Reports say that a southbound gray, late model Chevrolet SUV, driven by Leiva, struck a woman in her 20s and fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Authorities say that first responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officials described the victim as a Hispanic woman between 20 to 25 years old.
Officials later tracked down the suspect driver, identified as Leiva, and took him into custody. Leiva was booked into the 77th Street Jail on felony charges of a hit-and-run.
