According to reporters, the hit-and-run collision took place around 10:30 p.m.
Edgar Hernandez is fighting for his life suffering from broken ribs, head injuries and a broken arm and leg. Although he may recover from this traumatic episode, he may never walk again, says family.
According to Los Angeles Police Department officials, Hernandez was crossing at a marked crosswalk but against a red light. A surveillance video footage showed the pedestrian allowing one car to pass before a silver car struck him.
The impact launched him nearly 30 feet. Following the accident, the driver fled the scene, failing to render aid or seek help.
Detectives are in search of the suspected vehicle and driver. Anyone with insight into this hit-and-run is urged to call the LAPD at 213-833-3713.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a felony. If you prefer to avoid trouble with the law, never flee the scene of a car accident. Whether you have struck a driver or a pedestrian, remain calm and stay at the scene. Investigations and questioning will follow, but it is always best to apply this practice to avoid more severe repercussions.
