Driver Dies in DUI Car Accident in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (April 3, 2019) – A solo-car accident on Soquel San Jose Road near Old Turnpike Road left an alleged DUI driver dead and a passenger injured Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 10:20 p.m.
The suspected DUI driver overturned and plowed into a tree upon losing control of his 2007 BMW 328i. Per reports, the BMW was heading north on Soquel San Jose Road before the impact.
The 42-year-old passenger and the 45-year-old driver suffered serious injuries, urging paramedics to transport them to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. However, despite life-saving efforts, the driver died shortly after.
At this time, CHP officers are investigating the collision.
