2 Hurt in Tacoma Car Accident on 5 Freeway
TACOMA, WA (June 4, 2019) – A DUI driver was injured after a wrong-way car accident on 5 Freeway, near Portland Avenue.
According to Washington State Troopers, a 39-year-old man drove his Audi north in the southbound lanes before striking an oncoming Nissan Rogue. The Nissan then spun out before hitting a GMC Terrain as a result. Meanwhile the Audi slammed head-on into an Infiniti model.
Three children inside the Infiniti – ages 8, 5, and 1 – escaped serious injury. However, paramedics transported them to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma for precaution.
The Audi and GMC drivers sustained injuries as well. They sought treatment at Tacoma General Hospital. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
Furthermore, troopers later determined that the Audi driver had been impaired at the time. The unidentified man will most likely face charges of DUI.
