Police Investigate Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on North Main Street in Houston

Houston, TX (December 19, 2024) – Both drivers died in a wrong-way crash on North Main Street.

Houston police report that the North Freeway reopened Thursday morning after being closed inbound near downtown following a fatal wrong-way crash. 

The collision occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. near North Main Street, according to Houston TranStar. Authorities closed all main lanes but reopened them just before 8 a.m.

Investigators from HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division revealed that a 37-year-old man driving a red Honda Fit was traveling north in the southbound lanes when he collided with a gray Dodge Charger heading south. 

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
