Woman Perishes in Merced Car Accident
MERCED, CA (December 10, 2019)—A woman died Monday afternoon following a three-car crash at West Olive and Austin avenues.
According to Sgt. Dan Dabney, the incident happened around 2 p.m. Authorities believe the woman in her white 1994 Toyota Camry was attempting a left-hand turn from Austin Avenue onto West Olive Avenue.
Subsequently, an eastbound traveling 2001 Toyota Tundra struck her vehicle after running a red light. Paramedics responded immediately after and treated the unidentified woman, who died shortly after.
Although her name has yet to be released, police described her as a 61-year-old woman.
A third car was involved in the crash and only sustained minor damage; its driver escaped injury. Investigators are determining if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
