Arizona Man Dies in Multi-Car Collision in Claremont
CLAREMONT, CA (March 25, 2019) – An Arizona man died Sunday morning in a 15-car collision on the 10 Freeway near South Indian Hill Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at the Indian Hill Boulevard on-ramp around 1:55 a.m.
News reports say a 30-year-old man in a 2017 Dodge Charger rear-ended a 2018 Toyota Camry at an unsafe speed. The two-car crash in the carpool lane sent the Toyota into a Honda Civic located in the No. 2 lane. Meanwhile, the Dodge struck a 2016 BMW 550i in the carpool lane, which caused the BMW to strike a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL 55 stationed in the No. 1 lane.
It appears a temporary construction zone area resulted in stopped traffic moments before the accident, CHP officers clarified.
Unfortunately, the 22-year-old man from Tolleson, Ariz., operating the Toyota died in the collision. The 30-year-old man operating the Dodge suffered minor injuries, yet reports did not specify whether police officers cited the Long Beach man.
Two others suffered critical injuries and at least nine people faced minor injuries.
Now, the CHP Baldwin Park office urges witnesses to call (626) 338-1164 if they’d like to add to the investigation.
