Man Dead in Bakersfield Single-Car Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 29, 2019) – A 47-year-old man died in a solo-car accident on 5 Freeway near the Grapevine on Sunday.
According to California Highway Patrol officers, the man failed to wear his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Chevy Silverado driver made a sudden turning movement and collided with the center concrete median. Subsequently, the pickup truck drove over the wall and traveled down an embankment.
As the truck rolled down the hill, the 47-year-old driver from Clovis suffered fatal injuries after being ejected. The coroner’s office has yet to release his identity.
Details surrounding the cause of the crash and whether impairment, speed or distracted driving played a role is under review. Authorities are urging witnesses with information to contact them.
