FRESNO, CA (December 5, 2019)—A driver died Wednesday morning after crashing his vehicle into a tree on Highway 99 near the Herndon exit.
The fatal crash happened around 6:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol reported that a 32-year-old San Francisco man driving southbound on Highway 99 lost control of his vehicle, hydroplaned and veered off the highway.
The man’s vehicle traveled toward the direction of a tree and plowed into it. Paramedics arrived thereafter and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities investigating this case do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role, but a follow-up investigation is underway. CHP noted that heavy rain and wet road conditions had been present at the time.
