1 Injured in 2-Car Hit-and-Run Crash in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 16, 2019) – One person sustained moderate injuries in Wednesday’s hit-and-run two-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway near Imperial Avenue.
The incident unfolded around 12:15 a.m. on the southbound side.
According to California Highway Patrol, a white Jeep SUV and a silver Toyota Camry collided under unknown circumstances.
The impact caused the Jeep to overturn onto its roof and the Toyota Camry to come to rest at the median.
However, the Camry driver fled the scene, leaving the Jeep’s female driver pinned inside the upside-down SUV.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported her to a nearby hospital.
Authorities are uncertain as to what caused the cars to crash but a follow-up investigation is underway for the cause and the driver’s whereabouts.
