Person Injured in Oceanside Solo-Car Rollover Accident on 5 Freeway
OCEANSIDE, CA (February 7, 2020) — Paramedics transported one person to a hospital following a rollover crash on the 5 Freeway near the Santa Margarita River.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 8:55 a.m., on the northbound side of 5 Freeway. A witness informed dispatchers that the driver struck a guardrail and a pole before the vehicle overturned.
Upon arrival, CHP officers closed all northbound lanes around 9:15 a.m., so a helicopter could airlift the patient to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. However, by 9:35 a.m., officials opened the left three lanes.
Authorities have yet to determine the ultimate cause of the rollover crash. Anyone with information should contact police officials.
