1 Dead in Alhambra Collision With Metro Bus
ALHAMBRA, CA (May 2, 2019) – A driver died in a fiery crash with a bus on the 10 Freeway near South Fremont Avenue Tuesday night.
According to initial reports, the person died in the 8:35 p.m. accident after the Metro bus stalled in the express lanes.
Per Jose Ubaldo, a Metro spokesman, the westbound Silver Line Metro bus experienced an electrical problem and stopped. Shortly after, a driver of a white car plowed into its rear.
Subsequently, the car caught on fire and the driver never exited the vehicle, say witnesses.
Neither the bus driver nor the passengers suffered any injuries.
It is unclear what sparked the electrical problem, say California Highway Patrol. However, crews are heading up an investigation to determine the ultimate cause.
As a result of the accident, two westbound lanes remained closed while crews cleaned up the area.
