Man Dead in Solo-Car Accident in Marin County
MARIN COUNTY, CA (March 25, 2019) – A single-vehicle accident Saturday morning turned deadly when a car plunged off Ridgecrest Boulevard at Mt. Tamalpais State Park.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the fatal victim, who’s been described as a Mill Valley man in his 50s.
Around 10:12 a.m., a hiker reported seeing a four-door sedan plunge off Ridgecrest Boulevard, Marin County fire battalion chief Bret McTigue reported.
The vehicle landed approximately 600 feet below the roadway. Shortly after, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter arrived and performed a rescue operation with fire crews.
Emergency officials airlifted the victim to the roadway where he died. Per officials, they found no other victims inside the vehicle.
Authorities are investigating this case further to determine the circumstances. Thus far, investigators believe alcohol and speed may be possible factors.
