DUI Driver Douglas Hope Arrested After Wrong-Way Driving on Highway 70 Near Cox Lane
OROVILLE, CA (April 17, 2019) – Police arrested a 34-year-old man for DUI and child endangerment after driving in the wrong direction on Highway 70 near Cox Lane.
Around 2:13 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver.
The reporting party remained behind the wrong-way driver, Douglas Hope, as he traveled south in the northbound shoulder lane without headlights turned on.
Shortly after, police officers stopped Hope and arrested him for driving under the influence.
According to reports, his 3-year-old child sitting in the rear seat was found unsecured.
In addition to DUI, officers also booked him on child endangerment charges and possession of a controlled substance.
