Diana Whitfield and Kathryn Garges Dead, Sergio Sanchez Injured in Two-Car DUI Collision at Road 60 and Highway 137
TULARE, CA (May 15, 2019) – A DUI driver caused a two-car accident that killed two women Sunday at Road 60 and Highway 137.
Reports indicate that the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. First responders arrived to the area soon after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
Sergio Sanchez reportedly blew through a stop sign on Road 60 in a northbound 2006 GMC Sierra. He consequently slammed into a 2006 Pontiac, according to authorities.
Furthermore, officers believe the 24-year-old man was impaired at the time.
The two occupants inside the Pontiac, both from Tulare, were identified as 75-year-old Diana Whitfield, and her 67-year-old passenger, Kathryn Garges. They both suffered fatal injuries due to the impact of the crash.
Meanwhile, paramedics to transported Sanchez to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for further treatment. He was suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Reports indicate that Sanchez will be booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility on DUI-related allegations.
