11-Year-Old Girl Seriously Hurt in Pedestrian Crash near Jewetta Avenue

Bakersfield, CA (June 5, 2022) On Saturday, 79-year-old Dhanjibhai Patel, was arrested after an 11-year-old girl was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Brimhall Road.

Bakersfield police say that a pedestrian crash was reported at around 8:45 p.m. near Jewetta Avenue.

Reports say that the girl was crossing the street with her mother and 4-year-old sibling when the vehicle struck her.

Paramedics transported the girl to a hospital, the minor suffered serious injuries.

According to the police, witnesses describe the suspect vehicle as a small black SUV with front-end damage seen heading west on Brimhall Road.

Authorities found the vehicle and Patel near Brimhall Road and Old Farm Road around 30 minutes later.
