BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 3, 2024) – Tuesday night, a devastating pedestrian crash on Highway 99 and Olive Drive killed 1 person.

The incident happened at 6:34 p.m. on northbound Highway 99, north of Olive Drive.

According to reports, a vehicle reportedly hit a pedestrian.

Then, authorities shut down three lanes of the highway, and red flares were seen to guide traffic past the scene.

Fire crews also came to the scene, as well as the coroner at around 7:30 p.m.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
