2 Dead in League City Auto Accident on Interstate 45 and FM 646

LEAGUE CITY, TX (January 7, 2024) – Saturday morning, a devastating head-on crash on Interstate 45 and FM 646 killed 2 people.

The incident involving two vehicles happened at about 3:21 a.m. on Interstate 45 southbound at FM 646.

Reports revealed that a Toyota sedan had been driving the wrong way on the highway. Then, it collided with a Volkswagen sedan.

After the crash, the Toyota caught fire but it was immediately contained.

Officers confirmed that a female driver and a male passenger occupied the Toyota. Moreover, the man succumbed to injuries at the scene while responders took the female driver to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen driver also succumbed to injuries at the scene. However, the identities of the deceased remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Furthermore, the crash shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 45 at FM 646.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
