Derrick Daniels Dies, 1 Injured in Fresno County Car Crash
Fresno County, CA (August 23, 2020) – On Friday, 43-year-old Derrick Daniels of Fresno died in a fiery car crash on North Palm Avenue and East Ashlan Avenue.
An article published by the Fresno Bee said Daniels provoked a police pursuit. Our sources indicated an officer saw Daniels driving on a fast speed heading west on Belmont. An officer attempted to make a traffic stop but Daniels’ Buick Enclave accelerated away. A chase was then started.
Daniels ran a red light when he reached the intersection at North Palm Avenue and East Ashlan Avenue to evade the officer. However, Daniels’ vehicle slammed into a Mitsubishi. The impact threw his car into a brick structure.
Emergency teams responded to the site after 12:30 a.m. and found Daniels’ vehicle consumed by flames. The chasing officer pulled Daniels from his burning car, but he still sadly died at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities said the Mitsubishi driver suffered minor injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
