Jose Pacheco Arrested in Yakima County DUI Crash Killing Denise Yallup
Yakima County, WA (November 19, 2020) – On Wednesday, 60-year-old Denise Yallup died while police arrested 32-year-old Jose Pacheco in a DUI crash on State Route 97.
The Yakima County accident happened at 8:49 p.m. a mile south of Wapato.
Yallup was traveling northbound when at the same time, a second car driven by Pacheco was heading in the same direction.
Pacheco rear-ended Yallup’s vehicle which caused the two cars to roll.
Authorities pronounced Ms. Yallup dead at the scene.
On the other hand, rescuers took Pacheco to Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
During questioning, a Trooper said he noticed Pacheco was slurring his words and had a strong odor of intoxicants. Also, Pacheco’s eyes were also watery and bloodshot.

Pacheco said he struck the other car when it slammed on its brakes and admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.
Further, authorities learned that Pacheco had two DUI’s within the last 10 years.
WSP also said he was required to have an ignition interlock device in his car but did not have one installed.
As a result, authorities charged Pacheco with Vehicular Homicide-Under Influence, No Ignition Interlock Device, DWL 3rd Degree.
