Man Dies After Being Hit by Train in Denair
DENAIR, CA (January 11, 2019) – An 80-year-old pedestrian lost his life Thursday morning after walking in front of a train and being struck at North Santa Fe Avenue and East Zeering Road.
The 80-year-old man was seen by witnesses walking eastbound on East Zeering Road across the tracks. The crossing arms were down and functioning properly at the time, California Highway Patrol Officer Thomas Olsen said.
The man was hit and thrown about 30 feet from the point of impact. The unidentified victim died at the scene around 10:49 a.m.
Authorities had to shut down East Zeering Road until 1 p.m. due to investigations.
